In the treatment line for the selected patient, click Start on the Scan your model card.

Note

For a scan request or an imported case, click Start scan in the Add case wizard.

The setup page of the LS 3 scan module is opened.

Notes

If no KaVo LS 3 scanner is connected and registered to the account, the import wizard is shown.

For a case request for which scans were attached via DTX Studio™ Go, the define models page is shown. If the attached scans were created in DTX Studio™ Clinic, the scan items will be predefined.

Carefully place the items to be scanned in the scanner. See scan instructions.

warning sign Caution
Please ensure objects in the scanner do not change position during the scan procedure. Deviation will lead to misalignment of scan data.

The scan tasks can be started from the KaVo LS 3 scanner touch panel or from within the DTX Studio™ Lab scan module (see below).

Using the scan module

On the Scan tasks panel, the scan items are grouped per object type. To edit the scan setup, click Edit setup. There you can select the model height for all the scan objects. Click the scan object type to scan next to expand this part of the tasks panel. If there is more than one object of that type, all the objects are selected by default. Deselect the items you do not want to scan now.

Notes

For a die scan, select whether to scan the dies in a holder (Scan in holder) or in the model (Scan in model).

When scanning the occlusion in the articulator, a message is shown before the platform goes up or down.

Click Scan to scan the selected scan items.

Note

Expanding another group in the tasks panel while scanning is not possible.

An icon on the scan task item indicates the progress of the scanning:

scanner empty This item has not yet been scanned.
scanner busy The scanning or the creation of the 3D model is being performed.
scanner partial Some of the items of this group haven been scanned, but not all.

When the scanning is complete (and the Abort button is no longer shown), the creation of the 3D model begins, and a new scan action can be initiated.

When the scan task is finished, the scan item is marked by a check mark. The 3D viewer allows you to check the quality of the scanned models.

To rescan an item that was already scanned, select the scan item that has already been scanned and click Scan.

To fill holes, click Rescan zone.

To determine the tooth positions that will be passed to the design module, click Indicate tooth positions Indicate tooth positions icon in the tools menu.

If you scanned a jaw with locators, click Indicate locators Indicate locators icon to determine the locator positions. In the scan model the locators will be replaced by implant replicas.

To check the alignment of scan data with the dental model, click Check alignment Die alignment icon.
