To acquire the necessary scans:
In the treatment line for the selected patient, click Start on the Scan your model card.
Note
For a scan request or an imported case, click Start scan in the Add case wizard.
On the tooth chart for the scan setup, a jaw scan is automatically added, covering the interface, or — if there is more than one interface — the area between the interfaces, plus two adjacent teeth on both sides. The interface information is retrieved from the case setup.
Note
For a scan case, there is no restoration information. Only dental casts, diagnostics and antagonists can be scanned.
If needed, edit the scan setup.
To start scanning, click Start model scan. The DTX Studio™ Lab application connects to the scanner. To start the scanning later, close the window and the system will prompt you to save or cancel the changes.
Notes
It is not possible to start a new scan when a previous scan is not yet finished. If you try to start scanning another item at the same time, you will get a warning that the scan application is already running. Only one application can be run at a time. You should wait until the current scan application is finished before starting a new one.
Within the scan wizard, go back and make changes in the previous steps of the wizard by clicking Back. If needed, items will be rescanned.
At any step, the wizard dialog can be closed. Click Save to save the current scan setup and scans. Otherwise, click Don't save. During scanning it is not possible to cancel. The scan process needs to be finished or aborted before the wizard can be closed.
Caution Please ensure objects in the scanner do not change position during the scan procedure. Deviation will lead to misalignment of scan data. |
Carefully place the dental cast — with the locators, if any, securely mounted — or the dies in the scanner. To scan locators sequentially, select the locators you want to scan in this phase in the Locator list. Fine-tune the position of the locator regions in the camera view. Click Next. On the left-hand side, the progress is shown while scanning. If needed, abort scanning. Check the position of the scanned locators. Unscrew the locators very carefully, ensuring not to dislodge the model in the model holder. When all the locators have been scanned, click Next to proceed.
An automatic suggestion of the dental cast and dies scan region is shown in the camera view. Fine-tune the scan position and adjust the scan region. Click Next to proceed.
While scanning, the received points are visualized in a point cloud. Current scan region points are shown in red. Already scanned points are shown in grey. As soon as the scanning is finished, the point cloud is no longer visible.
The indicated region is scanned and the 3D model is shown. Check the quality of the scanned dental cast and the locators or dies. If inadequate, use the Rescan zone option. If OK, click Next.
After scanning the locators and the dental cast, if initially indicated, the diagnostic scans, the bite index scan, die spread scan and antagonist scan are performed. Scan items from previous steps are shown transparent in the 3D viewer for the next step.
Note
To skip the occlusion scan, the bite index scan and antagonist, click Save and finish. A message will inform you that your scan setup will be updated. To add objects to the scan, a rescan of all objects will be required.
When all the scans have been performed, click Finish. You will return to the scan setup tooth chart, which is now disabled and where the acquired scans are marked with a green ceck mark. It is no longer possible to add scan setups to the list. Click Save and close to return to the treatment line. When all scans have been performed for that case, start designing.
Note
For scan cases, the Scan result card is shown. Share the scan with a connection or export the scan.
