To perform a scan without first creating a scan request:
Select the patient record in the patients list .
Click Capture .
Hover over an available image acquisition device and click Select.
Notes
Busy devices are marked by an hourglass. The Select action is disabled until the device becomes available.
The applicable modalities for every image acquisition device are shown at the bottom of the device tile.
If you selected an intraoral sensor or PSP device, you can choose to capture images with or without a template. In the former case, see Guided capturing for intraoral scanning. In the latter case, stay on the Free tab and continue with the next step. Indicate the captured teeth on the tooth range. The tooth range information is saved in the captured image so that the images are loaded on the correct placeholders in the intraoral workspace.
If you selected an intraoral camera, the guided capturing will invite you to select the teeth you want to capture. Click Start.
Intraoral sensors that are directly connected to your computer via USB are indicated with the Connected icon.
From within the diagnose module, when removing a portable device, from its holder or treatment unit, an intraoral camera viewer will be added to the workspace for immediate capturing. When putting the device back into the holder or treatment unit, the active viewer will be removed from the workspace. (Note: Holder detection is not supported on the KaVo ERGOcam One device.)
Go to the device to perform the scan.
Notes
If the connection to DTX Studio™ Core or to the image acquisition device is lost, a window will be shown where you try to re-establish the connection by clicking Reconnect or to close the scan module by clicking Close scan.
For a (CB)CT scanner a scout image can be made before starting the actual scan. The scout image is saved on the Patient data tab of the patient record.
On the preview page, inspect the captured image and assign a tooth range. Click Finish to end the action or click Open diagnose to open the diagnose module.
Note
If you capture new image data for a patient record that is open and the computer is connected to DTX Studio™ Core, the captured data will automatically be added to the open diagnosis, except for a (CB)CT scan, which you will have to select separately in the diagnosis data on the patient menu.
If you capture new image data for a patient record that is closed, and if:
the patient does not have a diagnosis yet, then a diagnosis will be created automatically.
the patient has a diagnosis that was created before today, a new diagnosis will be created.
the patient has a diagnosis that was created today without a 3D scan, then the new image data is added to the diagnosis of today.
the patient has a diagnosis that was created today with an existing 3D scan and you captured new 3D data, then a new diagnosis is created and the 2D data set of the most recent diagnosis is copied to the new diagnosis.
the patient has a diagnosis that was created today with an existing 3D scan and you captured 2D data only, then the 2D data are added to this diagnosis.
