To align a dental scan with the 3D scan:
Click Edit Scan in the menu bar.
Click Align dental scan .
Select a dental scan.
Inspect the dental scan in the viewer. Click Next.
The dental scan and the 3D scan are aligned using SmartFusion™.
Note
Should the automatic alignment of the dental scan and the 3D scan fail, a message will pop up. Click Indicate corresponding points to align the scans manually.
Follow the instructions in the viewers and indicate each of the requested points alternately on the 3D scan and on the dental scan.
Click Finish to calculate the alignment based on the indicated points.
Check the alignment by scrolling through the reslice viewer. The shape of the dental scan (in pink) should be aligned with the 3D scan's reslice. Click Edit upper alignment or Edit lower alignment to indicate corresponding points.
To improve the result, try the following:
In Patient orientation, verify the occlusal plane. Adjust if needed.
In OPG curve, reindicate the upper and the lower arches.
Make sure the dental scan's occlusal plane is horizontal.
Click Finish.
The aligned dental scans are added to the diagnosis. They are shown in all 3D viewers and reslice viewers of the 3D patient and 3D tooth (if available) workspace.
