OPG curve

dtx logo Only available in DTX Studio™ diagnose Pro.

To optimize the 3D panoramic radiograph:

Click Edit Scan in the menu bar.

Click OPG Curve OPG curve icon.

Note

If you already created tooth annotations, you will get a warning that optimizing the 3D OPG will remove all created tooth annotations. Click Continue.

If the OPG 3D has not yet been created, the 3D image orientation has to be set first. The 3D patient model can be oriented in the preferred position by translating and rotating the model in the 3D viewers. Click the pan icon pan icon or the rotation icon rotate icon or press the Tab key to switch between rotation and translation mode. The selected mode appears in green.

Drag the model until the occlusal plane is correctly aligned with the Occlusal reference line and the Midline in the Frontal Viewer. Click Next.

For an imported image, you are requested to set the scan range. Click and drag on the tooth chart to indicate the scanned teeth. Click Continue.

To adjust the scan range, click Edit scan range  edit scan range icon by selecting one of the Adjust scan range buttons or by using the white handles on the tooth chart and click Save.

Drag and drop a red point to move it to another location. Click the reslice curve to add a control point. To reindicate points, click Reindicate curve and indicate the points and teeth as requested by the instruction text in the viewer below.

Note

The number and type of points that need to be indicated are dependent on the scan range. For small region 3D scans, by adding two points at the reslice curve endings, an OPG can be reconstructed that slices through the full image stack.

To select the other jaw, click Lower arch  lower arch icon or Upper arch upper arch icon. The selected jaw is highlighted in green. If a reslice curve is created for both jaws, the generated OPGs will be available in the 3D Panoramic workspace.

Click Done.

Adjusting the OPG curve

After indicating points, the complete curve is shown. When the teeth are not clearly visible, use the slider on the right-hand side to adjust the position of the axial reslice to a plane showing the tooth setup (approximately converging with the occlusal plane).

To adjust the curve:

Move individual control points to adjust the shape of the curve.

Click and drag on the surrounding area to move the complete curve.

The indicated points appear in red. Drag and drop a red point to move the point to another location. Click the reslice curve to add a control point.
