If the diagnostic workflow is available for the planned restoration, you will have the option to select the applicable Design flow:
Start from library: The diagnostic scan is loaded into the design module as a pre-op scan to help you create your design. The actual construction is performed the classical way, by loading tooth models, adapting/free-forming them, and designing connectors for multi-unit cases. Tooth models and custom abutments can be adapted to the pre-op scan.
Start from diagnostic: The construction is created directly from the diagnostic scan data. No tooth models are loaded. During design, there will be no specific workflow step to create connectors. Instead a bridge will be automatically generated from the diagnostic setup, taking into consideration contact areas you have generated. You will not be able to design the restoration without a diagnostic scan. The diagnostic scan will be loaded into the design module as a pre-op scan. The shape of this wax-up can be used as a reference.
